ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) — ABCCM’s annual Loaves and Fishes Food Drive has kicked off through the month of April, collecting food and donations for local families in need. The drive aims to replenish food pantries that have been depleted over the winter.
“Following the holidays and winter, the stores in our food pantries start to run low, and the need is greater,” ABCCM Executive Director Rev. Scott Rogers said. “In January 2024, we provided 12,814 food bags through our Crisis Ministries, compared to 7,793 in January 2023.”
ASHEVILLE NONPROFIT PLANS TO ADD 250 BEDS FOR HOMELESS, BOOSTING COMMUNITY OUTREACH
Asheville Buncombe Community Christian Ministry (ABCCM) asks local residents as they grocery shop throughout the month of April to remember the families in need who constantly have to make the hard choice between gas, food and medicine while oftentimes working multiple jobs just to get by.
Adding a few items to one’s grocery list and then donating them makes a world of difference — and there are eight locations where those donations can be dropped off.
