ABCCM is pleased to announce its annual Honor A Veteran™ event for Veterans Day 2023,
on Friday, 11/10 at 11:30 a.m. at Veterans Restoration Quarters (VRQ), 1329 Tunnel Rd,
Asheville, NC 28805. The event will feature special guest speaker Kevin Rumley, Director of
Veterans Treatment Court (VTC) Buncombe County, along with Color Guard, Honor Wall
presentation, and lunch for Veterans and their families. Here is the livestream link:

The presentation and lunch will be held simultaneously at two additional locations:
- Haywood County at The Orchard Church, 205 W Brook Drive, Waynesville, NC 28786, with special guest speaker Colonel Dave Nicholson, USMC Retired.
- VSC Jacksonville, 200 Preston Road, Suite 500, Jacksonville, NC 28540 with Sgt. Major Paul Siverson, USMC Retired
Reverend Scott Rogers, Executive Director of ABCCM said, “We honor every Veteran who
served in the military, everyone who is serving, and especially those who made huge sacrifices,
especially the ultimate sacrifice. ABCCM honors these Veterans along with their families, who
also sacrificed during their service. This is one of the most important celebrations of the year,
and we are committed to keeping their memory alive through the Veterans Honor Wall. So many
Veterans and families of Veterans serve other Veterans through ABCCM’s seven ministries.
This Honor Wall accomplishes two important goals, to remember the Veterans who are heroes
in their family and to generate funds for Veterans transitioning out of the military or to help in a
crisis to find resolution and restoration of their lives. Please consider honoring the Veteran hero

Veterans placed on the ABCCM virtual Veteran Honor Wall™ will be permanently displayed
online, searchable by name, to be presented at events and locations across North Carolina.
This will support the many Veteran Services provided to Veterans at the VRQ and VSC.

ABCCM’s seven ministries serve the lives of many Veterans with hope, food, clothing, a home,
counseling, job training for a living wage – rapid re-housing, homeless prevention, HOPE and
Path that connect Veterans with supportive service, intentional community, and a new direction
in life. By selecting a donation amount, or care package from $20 to $500, families and friends
of Veterans across our nation and history will have the opportunity to place the name, rank,
branch of service, photo, and short biography of their Veterans on the ABCCM virtual Veteran
Honor Wall™. Veterans Restoration Quarters provides 160 beds of transitional housing, 40
beds for emergency shelter, and 50 units of permanent supportive housing for a total of 250
beds. Transformation Village provides up to 20 beds for female Veterans including those with
children as part of their 100 bed facility.
Restoring lives is through four developmental phases called Steps to Success. These include 1)
Stabilization, with all the basic necessities provided; 2) Life Skills Training, with 26 volunteer
courses to choose from, including Bible studies; 3) Education and Professional Training
Certifications that lead to living wage jobs; and 4) Reintegration that leads to permanent housing
and community social-faith based supports with supportive services. At ABCCM VRQ eight out
of 10 Veterans leave with a living wage job and permanent housing.
ABCCM – VSC (Veterans Services of the Carolinas)
Serving Veterans with Hope, Healing, Honor and a Home
ABCCM VSC provides services for Veterans and their families. ABCCM VSC offers Veterans
Employment and Training Services (VETS) where 450 are trained and 80% are placed into
living wage career level jobs. The VSC programs prevent homelessness for about 320 Veteran
families a year. Veterans HOPE program outreaches to connect with the chronically
homeless. Veterans Call Center responds to 2000 crisis calls a month across all counties in NC,
bringing resolution to most cases within 4 – 6 days. VSC launched a new program to bring
awareness and address Veterans’ suicide with the implementation of community crisis response

The Veterans Ministries of ABCCM work to create a principle-based environment in an
intentional community that addresses every area of restoration in the life of a Veteran
experiencing homelessness. ABCCM provides each Veteran with stability, personal skill
building, educational and training opportunities leading to employment and housing along with
the restoration of personal dignity, faith, and strength.
ABCCM accomplishes its mission through diligent and compassionate efforts of trained staff,
volunteers, churches, and community partners. Veterans are provided housing, meals, case
management services, counseling, laundry facilities, a computer lab, a chapel and
transportation to VA Medical Center appointments. Every effort is made to provide each Veteran
with the tools, direction and encouragement needed to arrive at genuine success and full
restoration.
